My Oscars Best-Dressed Picks

I woke up extra early this morning to prepare my Red Carpet breakfast and set-up my laptop in the living room so that I could document the Oscars best-dressed. This event is THE fashion Olympics so preparation is key! So exciting!

Thank you Tom for bringing Aryanna to school and for trying to fend off Dylan away from the TV!

I have to say, this year’s Oscars gown choices are exciting!

: It seems the gals are having more fun with their frocks this year. It’s a little less serious; nice!

Here are my girls:

Ladies, gentlemen and gays, presenting, our fashion caped-crusader… Gwyneth Paltrow in a white Tom Ford creation!

Oh Gwynie, you are my fashion hero!

Rooney Mara just gave the fashion industry goosebumps with her Givenchy Couture choice! She is the epitome of modern glamour!

Nina Garcia described Rooney Mara’s style the best — “Audrey Hepburn gone punk!”

I love her signature fierce bangs and strong brows as well as her classic red lips and timeless bun. The look is directional.

Jessica Chastain in McQueen, FTW! I love that she chose a fierce gown for the Red Carpet!

When you’re up against glamazons like Gwyneth, Cameron, and Angelina on the Red Carpet, adorable and cute is the way to go! I love Michelle William’s coral Louis Vuitton peplum gown and fuchsia croc clutch!

Her ultimate style arsenal though is her pixie hair cut!

Red Carpet virgin, Milla Jovovich in Eli Saab’s Haute Couture collection.

Milla quipped, “I want to glow, shine but just right… It’s my first time… It’s like I’m a [Red Carpet] bride.” Haha!

Celebrate talent and style! Octavia Spencer looks fabulous in a sequined gold Tadashi Shoji gown.

Embrace your curves!

Oh Glenn Close, you give hope to women of all shapes and sizes! I love her Zac Posen tuxedo jacket and fishtail gown combo!

Love her hair and makeup too!

Wit and style are deadly combo! Tina Fey’s best look ever! Her custom Carolina Herrera catapulted her to the Best-Dressed category!

Ubusan ng peplum gown!

California goddess, Cameron Diaz’ style is always unexpected yet fabulous! She wore Gucci for the Red Carpet.

With a golden tan and a fit body, one can do no wrong!

Angelina Jolie’s Versace gown isn’t the most creative, but that thigh-high slit and pose (check out “Angelina’s leg” Twitter account: @AngiesRightLeg) will certainly be remembered.

Oh, and Brad, you’re perfect.

I love Emma Stone! Her gown maybe similar to Nicole Kidman’s 2007 Oscar Balenciaga gown, but she rocked it better! Did you watch her presenter’s bit on stage with Ben Stiller? She was hilarious!

Penelope Cruz looks like an Old Hollywood movie star in Armani Privé. It’s the first time I’ve seen her in pin curls—very classy.

I love the gowns! I love watching the Oscars! It’s truly the greatest show on Earth!

Savor the Flavor

I was invited last week by Jollibee to be one of the firsts to sample their new product. I was happy to oblige as according to them, it’s been around 35 years, since they’ve introduced their sweet-style spaghetti and this time, they have a new pasta out.

Can you guess what it is?

The new pasta is savory, yummy, and swak sa panlansang Pinoy!

I wanted to blog about this as soon as I tried the pasta but I had to wait. Well, now the wait is over and I am happy to share with all of you Jollibee’s newest product!

Look what arrived at Maison Epperson the day after my taste-testing:

A tower of goodness!

Ladies, gentlemen, and gays, presenting, Jollibee’s latest offering…

Chicken & Mushroom Pasta!

Jollibee’s new pasta is different from their iconic sweet-style spaghetti. I can’t even compare the two as they have different flavors. In my opinion, the new Chicken & Mushroom Pasta is more of an adult pasta — it’s got a smokey and peppery taste to it but not too spicy.

The sauce is made with generous potions of real ground chicken meat, sliced mushrooms, combined with a blend of tomatoes, herbs, and spices which gives it a unique flavor and special taste. It has a reddish brown color, a tad sweet but peppery taste, and topped with grated cheese. Mmm…

Try the Jollibee Chicken & Mushroom Pasta with your favorite chicken combo!

Happy fiesta!!!

Pricing:

• Value Meal with regular soft drinks, P70

Thank you to the jolly Jollibee girls who invited me! That was a fun food tasting affair and you guys were a hoot!

Things I Learned From Madonna

I’m in Cebu right now. Trying to relax and getting some work done too.

While looking for some serenity in my life, an earthquake rocked the Southern part of the Philippines (I’m OK. Where I’m at, I hardly felt it) and Madonna just rocked Superbowl XLVI!

I guess no matter where I am, what I’m doing, or who I’m with, excitement finds me!

Before anything else, Madonna’s outfitey:

From: @marceloburlon:

“One of the 3 Givenchy HC outfits of Madonna at the Super Bowl. # madonnasuperbowl #madonna #givenchy #religion #riccardotisci #MadonnaSuperBowl”

I thank my guardian angel for protecting me against Mother Nature. God knows my family especially my kids still need me.

I don’t know but it must be the fresh air and the peaceful surrounding that’s making me emo lately — while watching Madonna’s Superbowl performance, I can’t help but analyze her career. Ano ba ito? Haha!

Anyway, pagbigyan n’yo na aketch. Minsan lang ‘to!

Things I learned from Madonna:

Harness your power so that you may release it with a bang! Madonna has been under the radar for quite some time. After years of being quiet and letting other artists take center stage (ahem, Lady Gaga), Madge finally came out with a series of pasabowgs: she won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song over Elton John; she just released her new album, MDNA; and to top it all, she had a phenomenal performance at the Super Bowl XLVI Half Time Show! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Lola still rocks!

The real fountain of youth. The fountain of youth lies in creativity. Continuously reinventing yourself, being creative, and moving forward in life keeps one young at heart. As Madonna would say, “Express yourself… Hey, hey!” Haha!

Fit at every age. It is not by chance nor having good genes that Madge is fit and fabulous at fifty. It is through discipline and her desire to be healthy and active that puts her on top of her game. One needs to be healthy to “run” the course of life. A sedentary life or overindulging in food or the lack of discipline can bring down one’s self-esteem.

Kaya bukas na bukas, magexercise na tayong lahat!

March to your own beat. Do it your own original way and while you’re at it, ilabas na rin ang banda! Hala bira! LOL

Madonna once told Britney Spears to “be true to yourself”, kaya lang di nakinig si bagets kaya ang ending, nagpakalbo si Brit-Brit! Haha!

Love your family, friends, and “fans”. They are your best cheerleaders! They will be there for you during rough times and in your victories. They will love you unconditionally. Focus on people’s love, ditch the haters! Don’t even recognize them.

"L-U-V, Madonna! Y-O-U, you wanna!"

Aim for longevity. Talent, passion, creativity, and ambition are the key to keep you going through life. Follow your dreams and map out a plan on how to achieve them.

"I always say fame can get you in the door, but it takes talent to keep you in the room." - Madonna

Have fun! Just from watching Madonna perform, you know that girl just wanna have fun! Find your passion. Do what you love, love what you do.

The key to having fun is being in the moment and not taking yourself too seriously.

Pray. “Like a virgin” you gotta say “a little prayer”… Believe that there is a higher power. Have faith that everything happens for a reason.

Thigh-high boots forever. Because age is just a number, whether you’re fifteen or fifty five, pasok sa banga ang thigh-high boots basta keri! Haha!

SO…

“Ladies with an attitude
Fellows that were in the mood
Don’t just stand there, let’s get to it
Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it

Vogue! Vogue! Vogue!

Let your body move to the music
Ooh, you’ve got to just
Let your body go with the flow
Ooh, you’ve got to”

Let’s pray for those who were affected by the earthquake in Negros Occidental and some parts of Cebu.

I Love Pinterest

Style Inspiration: Kirstin Dunst

I’ve always loved Kirstin Dunst style.

Remember the Hollywood “It” girls phenomenon? While Paris, Lindsay, and Nicole were flashing their season’s must-haves, Kirstin went under the radar with her cool chic style.

Her effortless chic look is modern yet timeless. I so love it!

Note to self: Buy a Lanvin-esque bowtie

Na-achieve ko na ‘to!

Kirstin is the only gal I know who can rock the hoop earrings without looking ghetto. Haha!

Love the over-the-shoulder-blazer paired with LBD. Check out her ponkan lipchook!

Tee + Skirt + Pumps = Effortless chic

Red lips lang ang accessory!

Peg!!! Haircut, check. Rockin’ body…working on it.

Who needs accessories when you’ve got a hot boyfriend!

"Fans can make you famous, a contract can make you rich, the press can make you a superstar, but only luv can make you a player… L-U-V, MADONNA! Y-O-U, YOU WANNA!"
